Q: Do I need previous gymnastics experience?

A: No experience is required! We usually have just as many beginners as experienced members at our practices. We don't have tryouts either.

Q: Do you have a coach? Is the club suited to my needs as an upper level gymnast?

A: We have a coach who is a USC alum! Calista has experience coaching both beginners and upper level gymnasts. You will be able to train to any skill level.

Q: Where do you train? Do I need a car?

A: We carpool to and from the gym, which is off campus at The Klub Gymnastics.

Q: When do you train?

A: Our practice hours are 11:45am-1:45pm on Sundays and 5:45-7:45pm on Thursdays. We meet to carpool at 11:15am and 5pm respectively. We also (optionally) do conditioning practice in PED 201 on Mondays from 6-8pm and Tuesdays from 5-8pm.

Q: Are there dues?

A: If you do event practice once a week, the dues are $300 a semester. If you come twice a week, they are $500 a semester. Conditioning is not included in this pricing (it is free). We have a discount for drivers, and we can negotiate payment plans.

Q: What do you use the money on?

A: Unlike most college gymnastics clubs, we have a coach, and we rent an off-campus space with both men's and women's apparatuses. We use the money to cover those costs and the cost of competition fees.

Q: Do you take all genders? Can I train a certain event despite my gender?

A: Yes, we take all genders! You can also train any of the MAG or WAG events, and since we compete with NAIGC, you can compete them too! At nationals, we often see women competing rings or men competing floor routines with music.

Q: Do I have to wear a leotard?

A: You can wear any athletic clothing to practice. (You can wear a leotard if you want to, though). For competitions, you have the option of USC men's or women's competition leotards or simply the USC gymnastics shirt/tank and shorts/pants. You can also wear the leotards with shorts or pants to compete.

Q: Where do you compete and when?

A: We compete in the Spring semester around March and April. We compete in a few local meets such as at UCLA or UCSD, and we go to Nationals every year. You don't have to qualify to compete!

Q: What levels do you compete?

A: WAG Silver, Platinum, Level 8, and Level 9, and MAG Level 7, 8, and modified NCAA.

Q: Do I have to compete? Can I compete if I'm a beginner?

A: You don't have to compete! We've also had beginners who join in the fall and are able to compete in the spring.

Q: Can I get recruited to USC through gymnastics and be featured on TV?

A: No, sorry! We are just a club team.

Q: Can I enroll my child in classes here?

A: Our club only takes adult members, but you can enroll your child in classes at the facility where we train! Click here for more information.

Q: Can I spectate your practices?

A: No, unfortunately. We practice at a gym where children also train, so they have to verify that all adults are part of our club for children's safety. Besides, we are not NCAA or recruited athletes, so some members may feel uncomfortable being watched. Consider a trial practice instead!

Q: How do I join?

A: Come see us at the Involvement Fair or RecFest at the beginning of the semester, or fill out the Contact Form. We set up a free trial practice, and then you can choose whether to join officially!

Q: Can I join if I don't go to USC?

A: Yes! Contact us at the beginning of September or January.

Q: Wait, this isn't the University of South Carolina?

A: Oh no! Click here for the UofSC site. Hope to see you at nationals!
